“Would you like to come for dinner?” read the message from my daughter. It is always exciting to receive an invitation like this, especially as we would enjoy, for the first time, a dinner at our recently married daughter and son-in-law’s new home. What made it even more special was the preparation. Our son-in-law was waiting at the gate to let us in, having seen we were nearby. When we arrived, everything was beautifully prepared. Lights hung in the garden, music was playing, and the braai was sizzling in anticipation. It wasn’t just the opportunity to have dinner with them, but seeing their preparation and love to make this a special occasion. When people are hospitable and go out of their way to prepare, it speaks powerfully of their love. Imagine how great God’s love is in preparing a place for you—not for a few hours or days, but since eternity. “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34). What an invitation, just for you. “On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples” (Isaiah 25:6). Would you like to come to God’s Kingdom feast?
