Social media content creators will tell you photos or reels with clear blue water get more likes than most other posts. There is just something special about water. We are naturally attracted to its beauty. Maybe it is because water is essential for our survival. Our human body is made of approximately 60% water. We can only survive for three days without water. God has created us not only to be attracted to water but to rely on it for our survival. However, more important than our desire and need for water for our natural survival should be our desire and need for God for our spiritual survival. David understood this. “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You. In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1). Jesus came so we can experience this living water – God’s spiritual presence in our life. “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive” (John 7:37-39). Today as you take your first sip of water, think of Jesus – God’s living water, and seek to have your thirst quenched by his living presence every day of your life.
