The gate

The gate

“I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.” (John 10:9). A gate controls access – but it also opens and releases. In Jesus’ time, a shepherd led sheep into an enclosure for safety, with a gate to protect them from predators. Jesus also said, “Enter through the narrow gate” (Matthew 7:13–14). At first, this sounds restrictive, while the world seems wide and free. But Jesus isn’t talking about entering restriction – He’s talking about entering life. The wide path is an illusion. Doing whatever you want leads to a narrow, enslaved life. The narrow entry is Jesus, and it opens into wide freedom. He says, “They will come in and go out, and find pasture” (John 10:9). Gates don’t trap, they provide safety, direction, and release. Jesus isn’t calling you to be stuck in a pen, but to live in this world under His care. “I have come that you may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). Today, whenever you open a door, pause. Ask yourself: What am I forcing? What am I avoiding? Then pray, “Jesus, be my gate. Lead my coming in and going out.” (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/joh10v9-10, https://bit.ly/mat7v13-14
