Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went there? It’s a small reminder of how fragile memory can be. Scripture often calls us to remember. In the Old Testament, boundary stones and memorials reminded God’s people of His mighty works. Proverbs 22:28 warns, “Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors.” These stones were more than land markers, they were markers of identity, anchors of memory. In the New Testament, Jesus gives us the ultimate reminder. When Thomas asked, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus replied, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:5–6). Christ is our eternal boundary stone, the cornerstone. Just as repetition strengthens memory, so meditation on Scripture, worship, and prayer strengthen our spiritual memory. Even when ours fails, God never forgets: “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). So let us guard our hearts, rehearse God’s promises, and anchor ourselves in Christ—the way, the truth, and the life.
