Do you really believe?

I recently listened to a well-known podcast speaker explaining why he never wanted to claim to believe in God because believing means acting. He felt he could never act and live like belief in God requires, and only Jesus could truly claim belief. At one level, what he said is correct. Claiming to believe something is only true if we live and act on that belief. Belief in God means acting on that belief and living as God requires. Anything less is not true belief. Paul makes the same point when he says, “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). Belief in God and his gospel of the kingdom is not just talk, it requires us to demonstrate it by living it in our lives. However, there is one extra part that is the key – “by God’s power”. The podcast speaker is right. Belief requires action, and living this life is impossible. However, what he missed is that while this is impossible for us, it is possible by God’s power through Jesus. As Paul says elsewhere, “I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ” (Philippians 3:9). Believe in God by letting Jesus live in you. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/1Co4v20, http://bit.ly/phi3v9, http://bit.ly/READMore_
