World beyond sight

World beyond sight

Recently we watched (again) the amazing show on Netflix called “My Octopus Teacher”. It is a beautifully filmed story of a man’s incredible encounter and surprising friendship with an octopus. It opened my eyes to a whole new world that exists in the kelp forests below the sea. Standing on the beach we think the world is all we can see. However, unseen below the ocean is an incredible world filled with creatures living remarkable lives. We have to enter into the sea, which can be uncomfortable and scary, to open our eyes to this whole new world. It’s a world beyond our imagination. But, even more incredible is God’s divine world that exists unseen beyond our sight. A world filled with divine beings. A world beyond our imagination. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). It may be uncomfortable or even scary to accept God as our creator. But if we do, he will open our eyes to a whole new world. As Paul continues in 1 Corinthians 2:10: “But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit.” So, don’t look at “what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18) and truly amazing!
