Too much, too little

Too much, too little

There’s something that is just so strange with us as humans. When God blesses us with material things, or health, or relationships, we forget all about Him. How often have I seen—or personally experienced—God’s abundance, only to see an immediate loss of faith. Yet we constantly pray to God for His blessings. We crave the good things of life. We want to buy things that are nice, enjoy good health, and have friends and family. And then if God gives these to us, how do we respond? The wise writer of Proverbs realised this thousands of years ago. He prayed this prayer: “Give me enough food to live on, neither too much nor too little. If I’m too full, I might get independent, saying, ‘God? Who needs him?’ If I’m poor, I might steal and dishonour the name of my God” (Proverbs 30:8-9). We need to always rest contently in what God gives us, believing He knows what is best for us. Our world is full of those who have much and no longer believe in God, and those who have little and covet more. But what’s the secret to live contently? Paul tells us: “I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:12-13). Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Pro30v8-9, https://bit.ly/phi4v12-13 (Craig B)
