It’s one of those nightmares that becomes real. I’m snoozing beneath my duvet when something wakens me, something crawling on my back. From fast asleep to wide awake in seconds, I try to knock the beast off. My first attempt fails, but a second succeeds, only for my hand to feel a sharp sting. I reach for the light, leap from bed, ready to battle, but whatever it was has vanished. All that remains is the pain, and the dread of unseen danger hiding nearby. We have safe places, and there is nothing worse than danger entering them. The first time this happened was in Eden, a beautiful garden, and a serpent allowed to enter, bringing a terrible sting called sin. While my sting was sore, the sting of sin is far worse. “The sting of death is sin” (1 Corinthians 15:56). Later I found the perpetrator, a small scorpion, and dispatched it. Then, with the danger gone, sleep could return. But more importantly, Jesus has crushed the head of sin (Genesis 3:15). Now we can live in that peace for “Where, O death, is your sting?”. So, “thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:56-57). (Craig B). Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1Co15v54-58
