The blood test

The blood test

I recently went to the doctor for a general checkup—something that becomes more necessary as the miles add up. While the doctor can measure heart rate and blood pressure, the real insights come from a blood test. And so, despite my dislike of needles, blood was drawn and sent to a lab. It’s incredible how much a simple blood test can reveal about overall health. But this isn’t new—God has said it for thousands of years: “The life of the body is in its blood” (Leviticus 17:11). Just as our physical blood reveals our health, our spiritual condition is also revealed by what flows through us. True life—eternal life—comes only through Jesus, who declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). That’s why He tells us to symbolically drink His blood (John 6:53-54)—exchanging our sin-stained life for His perfect one. When we do this, we become like Paul, who proclaimed, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). If the Divine Doctor examined you today, would He find Jesus’ life flowing through you?
