Recently, while visiting Australia, we were hosted by friends and family during our stay. We were overwhelmed by their incredible kindness. There was nothing that was too much trouble. But more than this was their abundance. Their desire to give more than we could ever have expected or repay. It was a lesson in abundance for me. A lesson in living God’s instruction. “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). And the result? “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). Their abundance showed us what abundance is, inspiring us to be abundant to those we can impact, enriching those who give and receive. “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:11).
