God ahead

God ahead

David says something mind-blowing in Psalm 139:1-4, “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.” (Psalms 139:1-4)

That’s amazing. God transcends space – He’s everywhere we are, and he transcends matter – he is in our thoughts, even before we have them. That’s incredible. He guides us physically and mentally.  Mind blowing! If that’s not mind-blowing enough, David pushes even further. God is not only everywhere in space and matter – He is everywhere in time.

“You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.” (Psalms 139:5) – Read that again. There is no way we stuck-in-time humans can understand this. God is saying He is in your future. He is in your past. And He is touching you now. God is in your tomorrow, the fears you have. He is in your past, the regrets you have. He is in your now, the choices you have.  This is God – transcending space, time, and matter.  That’s why David continues:  “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!” (Psalms 139:6). This is why in almost every book of the Bible, you will come across the same four-word sentence repeated over and over again – “Do not be afraid”.

“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” (Genesis 15:1).

“Do not be afraid of what you have heard.” (2 Kings 19:6).

“Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid” (Matthew 28:10).

That’s your God – In every place you are, in every thought, you have, in every time you exist – what have you to fear?

Mind-blowing.
