A new year brings new opportunities. What will you be focusing your time and attention on this year? Your career, degree, a building project, your business? If you had to stop for a moment and ask yourself, “Why will I be pouring all my time and energy into this?” Is it so you can earn more money or success? In Proverbs, Solomon directs us on what to focus our time and energy on first, before money or success. “Receive my instruction, and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.” (Proverbs 8:10-11). When we seek God and His wisdom first, God promises a life of true riches. In fact, He assures us there is nothing in the world that you may desire that can even compare to the gift of His wisdom. This year, I encourage you to seek God’s wisdom first above all things.
