Who can find her?

Who can find her?

What will you study? What car will you buy? Where will you live? Important questions but nothing compared to the final question in Proverbs. Proverbs began with Wise Woman Wisdom asking a question – “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?” (Proverbs 1:22). And now the final all-important question is – “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10). The writer then describes this wife. She is the most amazing woman who provides for her family, cares for the poor, and multiplies her investments. But as we are left in awe of her, with the question hanging, the book ends – “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate” (Proverbs 31:31). She has not only heard woman wisdom’s words, she has taken them in to become the ultimate wife of wisdom. Who can find her? It’s an angel in the final book of the Bible who finds her – “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:9). She is the bride of Christ. It’s you. This is who we are called to become. As Proverbs finishes with a picture, the Bible finishes with an invitation to be this person – “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” (Revelation 22:17).
