Snares are dangerous. They are difficult to spot, but once they get a hold of you, the more you fight, the tighter it gets. There are many snares in life, but the greatest snare is the fear of man. This is the fear of losing your money or losing your job, losing your health, and even losing your life. The writer of Proverbs says that the “fear of man will prove to be a snare” (Proverbs 29:25). All of these worries that we experience in life are snares. And just like an animal that gets caught in a snare, these worries slowly but surely choke the life out of our faith. However, there is hope. The verse continues – “Whoever trusts in the Lord will be kept safe”. God is the one who can keep us out of the snare. Whatever snares you find looming ahead in your life, trust your Father in heaven. Take his outstretched hand and let him guide you past the snares that so easily entangle us.
