We recently stayed on a beautiful farm at the foot of the mountains and noticed the neighbouring farm had unusual-looking cows living idyllic lives and were well cared for. These valuable cows sold for R500,000 ($30,000) for females and R1 million ($60,000) for males. The owner had chips on all his cows, monitored constantly, and their food cost R50,000 ($3,000) monthly. Imagine if we treated our Heavenly Father and His Word as we do valuable possessions: seeing them as precious, staying in constant contact, and enjoying a diet rich in His word. God tells us in Proverbs His wisdom is more precious than any earthly possession: “She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.” (Proverbs 3:15). Meditating and keeping His word assures us of a prosperous and successful life: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8). Today, let us treasure God and His word to enjoy true riches and happiness that will last forever.
