Mom’s calling

Mom’s calling

Today is a special day; it’s my mom’s birthday. I remember seeing an image of a cellphone ringing with the text “Mom calling”. Below this, it said, “If you still receive this, you are the luckiest person in the world”. It’s easy to take for granted what we have, like a call from mom. However, approximately 30% of the world no longer has mothers who are alive. And, as I am one of these 30%, I couldn’t agree more with the statement. Moms play, or should play, an important role in our lives. They are there to nurture and care for us. They are there to show us compassion. To believe in us when no one else does. However, the good news is that whether your mom is alive or not, present in your life or not, God is always there to give that same loving comfort. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you” (Isaiah 66:13). And just like a caring mother calls her children, God is calling you. He wants to be part of your life. He wants to talk to you. He wants to guide you. The question is, will you answer His call?
