How would you do it if you had to explain our purpose on this earth as an elevator pitch in 10 seconds? Simply put, it is to be image bearers of God in order to fill the earth with His Glory. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14). In order to image or reflect God, we need to orientate ourselves upwards to receive and reflect His light. A mirror angled downwards casts nothing but a shadow. Similarly when we orientate ourselves downwards, placing ourselves at the top of the totem pole, as the pinnacle of meaning and wisdom, we turn our backs to God and block his light.
