Your five-year-old son runs into the house and asks you for a drink of water. Will you give him poison? It’s a crazy question. Of course not. We will give him clean, pure water to quench his thirst. You are completely stressed out, unsure of what to do and not sleeping well. You are so thirsty for peace of mind and heart. Do you come to our Heavenly Father in prayer and ask Him to fill you with His transcending peace, wisdom and rest and not expect him to give it to you? In Luke 11:11-13 we read, “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give His Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Our Father loves you. He wants to fill your life with His Divine presence, love and peace. All he needs from you is to trust Him and ask Him. As much as you love to fill your children’s lives with good gifts, so much more does our Heavenly Father want to give the gift of His Holy Spirit to those who ask him.
