Silence. Unanswered prayers. Life spirals out of control. God seems absent. We scream into the void, “There is no God!” Some live this reality, choosing “No God” when life turns against them. Yet the Psalmist warns, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1). The truth is, we all worship something—whether it’s faith in God or the god of self. But the god of self offers no hope, no future, only deeper despair. So, how do we keep faith in God when He feels silent? The Psalmist faced this – “I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me…Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favour again?” (Psalms 77:1, 7). But then notice what he does – “To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand…I will remember your miracles of long ago.” (Psalms 77:10-12). He remembers what God has done. And in remembering, he discovers a profound truth: “Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.” (Psalms 77:19). It’s God’s unseen footprints. God is never absent. He walks ahead of you, preparing your way, even if you can’t see it just yet. If God seems silent, take time to reflect on what he has done in your life. Read His Word. Keep reading. He will do a mighty work in your life. His unseen footprints already walk ahead of you.
