God’s list

God’s list

I was scrolling through the contact list of names on my phone. Over the years, and many phones, with numbers automatically being added, I’ve accumulated a huge list. Some are unknown, some are useful, but many are friends and family. Some I haven’t heard from for years. And sadly, some names are those who have passed away. I see my mom, dad, and others who are in my contacts but no longer with us. While I will remember family and friends, I’m sure there are others I will eventually forget. It’s sobering how we remain behind as a name, and after a few generations, even that may be forgotten. Can you name your great-grandparents? How quickly we fade away. “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14). But the good news is this is not how God remembers. For those who belong to him, he never forgets. “I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:15-16). Not only will He never forget, He will raise them up to live forever. Now that’s a list to be in. Do you want to be in God’s list of names?
