Today I am blessed to celebrate my 34th wedding anniversary. There are few gifts greater than a wife. And certainly none greater than one who has been a Godly companion for so many years. “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22). I couldn’t agree more with this. A wife is a treasure and a gift from God. Yet how many of us seek our treasures in money or fame or other achievements? The glint of these “treasures” soon fades when we realize money, fame or great achievements don’t bring what we truly need—relationship. God made us needing relationship. Nothing can be a proxy for this. It’s why the greatest of all Bible commands is: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39). It’s only in relationship that we find meaning and joy. Even if we haven’t found a spouse, God is calling us to discover the joy of loving Him and our neighbor. Not just today, but every single day, because the longer we love the more precious the treasure. (Craig B) Open Bible – bit.ly/Pro18v22, https://bit.ly/mat22v37
