End…Beginning

End…Beginning

The Bible story is one of cycles, beginning in Genesis with the repeating phrase, “the evening and the morning.” Interestingly, in Hebrew, the day begins at sunset (evening)—darkness precedes light. The Bible starts with darkness (Genesis 1:1), into which God’s light shines, telling the story of salvation. From chaos (darkness), God brings order (light). Rest (evening) comes first, followed by work (morning), reminding us that life begins with reliance on God (rest) and flows into human effort. So, when we find ourselves at the end of a day, year, or even life, let us remember that the evening is the precursor to a new dawn. It’s not a time to dwell on the past darkness or chaos but to look forward to the light of a new day ahead. As Isaiah declares: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19). Whatever has come before, trust in God’s promise—a new day is on the horizon, bringing hope and life eternal. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/gen1v1-3
