“In the event of an emergency, oxygen masks will drop automatically from above. Pull the mask towards you and secure before assisting fellow passengers.” This familiar flight announcement holds deep spiritual truth. If we can’t breathe, we can’t help others. In our faith journey, the same applies. We cannot effectively share the gospel if we haven’t truly experienced it ourselves. If the gospel hasn’t transformed how we act, respond, and treat others, then what are we sharing? First, we must breathe in God’s life-giving Spirit. Only then can we show the world what a Spirit-filled life looks like. Jesus said, “Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father” (Matthew 5:16). We are called to be living examples, changed by God’s grace and ready to reflect it. “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others” (2 Corinthians 1:4). So before you help others, breathe. Breathe deeply of God’s truth, love, and comfort. That’s when your life becomes a true testimony to His power.
