The epic symphony

The epic symphony

Have you played the symphony of God? Peter invites us to participate. “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:2-3). The word used for “knowledge” is epígnōsis—a deep, mature, relational knowing of God. It’s not just head knowledge (gnosis), but awareness that becomes transformation. But how do we get this kind of relational knowledge of God? Peter continues: “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8). The word “add” here is epichorēgeō, meaning to intensify the chorus—to put on a grand performance. This is not just adding, it is creating the grand chorus production. It’s a call to energetically cultivate each virtue like an artistic director building a crescendo of sound. As more and more instruments of virtue join, the symphony reaches the crescendo…knowing God. What divine sounds will you play today? Open Bible – https://bit.ly/2Pe1v1-8 (Craig B)
