Have you been on a play park merry-go-round? To enjoy it, some people sit on the ride while one person spins it as fast as they can. As the ride spins, those sitting close to the centre feel stable while those sitting towards the edge feel the pull and have the greater risk of being flung away. This illustrates God’s message found in James 4:8: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” Just like staying near the centre of a merry-go-round offers stability, keeping God at the centre of our lives anchors us in the midst of life’s whirlwind. In our lives, distractions and pressures can feel like centrifugal forces, pulling us away from our spiritual centre. The closer we drift towards life’s edges, the more we feel the pull of the world. But when we position God at the core of our existence, we find stability. Today, strive to stay close to God, your spiritual center, and experience the stability of God amidst the vortex of life.
