His Time, Our Time

Every day holds exactly 86,400 seconds, and how we spend them matters more than we often realise. Scripture reminds us that time is not random – it flows according to a divine design. Solomon captured this beautifully when he wrote, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." (Ecclesiastes 3:1) He then lists an extraordinary range of human experience – times to weep and laugh, times to mourn and dance, times to speak and stay silent. Yet Solomon also noticed a burden in all this, because without God at the centre, even a full life can feel like it amounts to nothing. Something is missing. The missing "time" appears in Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He has made everything beautiful in His time. He has also set eternity in the human heart." The "time" that gives meaning to all other times is God's time – His eternity set within us. Without this, life lacks purpose. It's a hole no amount of possessions or pursuits can fill. The question is not whether we have enough seconds – we all have the same 86,400. The question is whether we are living them in His time, or just our own time. (Craig B).
