“Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:42.) Life rarely tempts us with obvious wrongs. It tempts us with options that all seem good. That’s what makes this story so piercing. Martha was doing something noble, she was serving Jesus. Yet Jesus said Mary had chosen what was better. The challenge wasn’t between right and wrong, but between good and best. Between what looked productive and what was truly transformative. Our lives are filled with that same tension. So many good things call for our time – work, family, projects, even outreach – but only one thing nourishes the soul: being near Jesus. When Jesus spoke to Martha, He wasn’t criticising her service. He was inviting her to reorder her priorities. Service was good. Presence was better. Pause today and ask: what have I been doing that’s good, but not best? Spiritual maturity isn’t about doing everything right. It’s about knowing what’s worth your whole heart. Choose the better thing, not the busier thing. Because what you choose most often becomes what you love most deeply. (Joshua B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Luk10v41-42
