Into a new creation Adam and Eve were placed with freewill and a choice – serve God and prosper or serve self and suffer. They chose self, seeking to become their own gods. After the flood, as a renewed world emerged, Noah’s family faced the same choice. But soon, drunkenness, shame, hatred, and war returned. As technology advanced, humans built a city and a tower to reach the heavens “so that we may make a name for ourselves” (Genesis 11:4). Once again, God was rejected. So “the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth” (Genesis 11:9). Nations formed, and most turned from God. People leaned on human wisdom, technology, and self-will to solve their problems, trying to become gods. And yet, not all was lost. There were still those who worshipped the Creator, who sought His love and will. The promise of a descendant who would end sin forever still glimmered in the lives of the faithful, especially through one man who would face great tests of faith and receive even greater promises. “The LORD had said to Abram, ‘Leave your native country… and go to the land that I will show you’” (Genesis 12:1). The same choice remains: serve God or serve self. Which will you choose? (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Gen11v4-9, https://bit.ly/Gen12v1
