Recently I visited a motor museum that houses one of the largest private collections of cars. Inside four large buildings are housed an incredible array of old cars, from original Model T Fords to Formula 1 cars. Two things struck me besides the extraordinary value of the cars. The first was the fantastic condition of the cars and the effort taken to ensure they were cared for. The second was that the owner had chosen to open his collection to the public so we could enjoy the cars too. What would you do if you had something precious and beautiful like these cars? Would you take care of it and also let others enjoy seeing it too? If you have chosen to follow Jesus, you have been given the most valuable gift possible – the presence and power of God. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). God has chosen to make your body the place where His Spirit lives. This is a gift more valuable than anything else. But notice the verse is a question. Being given this incredible gift to store in our lives comes with an incredible responsibility. Firstly, a responsibility to look after our bodies. Secondly, a responsibility to showcase the wonder and beauty of God in us to everyone. What are you doing with the precious gift stored in your life?
