Life’s ups and downs can leave us feeling like we’re on an emotional rollercoaster, but even in the hardest moments, we have a choice. Today’s Bible verse is Psalm 42:5: “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:5). The psalmist acknowledges feelings of discouragement and sadness but chooses to focus on God as Savior and source of hope. Emotions fluctuate, rising and falling like the stockmarket, but God remains steadfast and unchanging. This is where we must direct our attention, placing our hope in Him and offering Him praise. Instead of dwelling on our weaknesses, let us fix our eyes on God’s enduring strength, for in seeking His might, we find the strength to face life’s challenges.
