It was a lovely day—a gentle breeze blowing off the sea. The sun shining warmly down. Working on my laptop with the glass balcony door open, I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks below our second-story apartment. My wife got up from where she was seated in the lounge next to the open door and went to make a cup of tea. So peaceful. Perfect. And then, in an instant, a freak wave came smashing through the open door, drenching everything in the lounge. Everything was dripping wet in seconds as we scrambled to pick up wet items. Life can be like this sometimes. Everything is sun and a gentle breeze, and suddenly, we are hit by a wave of issues. All of a sudden, we are overwhelmed. All of a sudden, we are scrambling. But know this: God is always there whether life is sun or storm, peace or pain. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear..though the waters roar and foam” (Psalms 46:1-3). Trust in the storm-calmer. Trust in Jesus. “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (Mark 6:50).
