“They just found dinosaur remains on the moon!” Wow. Really? No. April Fools! Exchanges with fake stories fill the world on April 1st. It’s mostly just for fun, but it got me wondering how easily we can be played for fools. Beyond harmless pranks or sinister scams, there is one time Jesus uses the word “fool” that hits much closer to home. He tells a story about a successful man who decides to invest in grander things, building bigger barns to grow his wealth and secure his future. But then, “God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’” (Luke 12:20). The real fool is the person who thinks they can secure their future with wealth or power. We all do this to some extent. It is wise to be sensible and save, but at what stage do we cross the line and become the fool? Take a moment today to examine your priorities. Where does your true security lie? Who do you really trust? Will you be a fool? (Craig B) Open Bible – bit.ly/Luk12v16-21
