Thankfulness saves

Thankfulness saves

I’m sitting in the dentist chair with a light shining in my face and a slow numbing setting in. Next will be further unpleasant experiences. It’s certainly not a place anyone wants to be. While waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect, the dentist tells me he recently heard that dentists are now ranked as one of the top suicide risks. I was surprised. But then what he said next struck home. Outside of cosmetic dental procedures, no one is happy. We hate being at the dentist. We complain. We are in fear. And it’s highly unlikely that we leave giving thanks for the experience. Yet what type of impact might this thanks have? Thanks is something that costs us nothing yet could even save a life. Its value is often far greater when we don’t feel thankful. We are told, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This is God’s will. He expects us to be thankful. Even when we don’t feel like it. But the secret to doing this is in the last three words—“in Christ Jesus”. Today, let Jesus empower you to be thankful in all circumstances. It may even save a life. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1Th5v18 (Craig B)
