What is the first question ever asked by a human in the Bible? Firsts are significant in God’s Word—they often reveal deeper truths. The first question, asked by Cain after he kills his brother Abel, is evasive: “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ ‘I don’t know,’ he replied. ‘Am I my brother’s keeper?’” (Genesis 4:9). This question highlights a fundamental human issue about love and responsibility: are we truly responsible for one another? The Bible’s answer is woven throughout, from Jesus declaring that the greatest commandments are to love God and love our neighbor, to Jesus demonstrating this love by dying for us. The question we must keep asking ourselves is, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Are we actively caring for those around us, or are we more focused on our own needs? Today, open your eyes to the people God places in your path, and then open your heart and hands to show them His love. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/gen4v9
