More than deserved

More than deserved

Only three months after their deliverance, Israel forgot. After generations of slavery, God shattered Egypt’s grip with plagues, split the sea before their eyes, and led them through on dry ground. The waters that stood like walls became their salvation. The army that pursued them was swallowed in an instant. And yet, when Moses lingered on Mount Sinai, fear replaced faith. Silence felt like abandonment. The God who had performed such mighty miracles now seemed distant, so they turned to what they could see, demanding a golden idol to take the place of God. How quickly the human heart forgets. This was not just ancient Israel’s struggle, it is ours. We witness provision, healing, answered prayer, and still, when God seems quiet, we are tempted to craft our own securities. Yet what is most astonishing is not Israel’s failure, but God’s response. When Moses ascends the mountain again, God reveals His name, not in wrathful destruction, but in mercy: “The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness” (Exodus 34:6-7). Before He declares judgment, He declares His heart. Where we are faithless, He remains faithful. What a merciful Father we worship. (Nicky Blewett) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Exo34v6-7
