When building a house, a firm foundation, the best quality building materials, and a highly qualified builder are vital for a house that will last beyond our lifetime. So, how do we build our Spiritual house? Do we use our knowledge of the Bible as the foundation? Our good works as our building materials? And ourselves as the builder? This is the completely wrong approach. Firstly, it’s the wrong builder. “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labour in vain” (Psalm 127:1). Secondly, it’s the wrong foundation. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11). And thirdly, it’s the wrong building materials. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them“ (Ephesians 2:8-10). Let God be the builder of your life, with Jesus as your foundation and faith as your bricks. Then, you will build a life that lasts forever.
