It’s an incredible performance. The singing, the acting, the sets, the costumes. It’s definitely worth a standing ovation. As the final curtain falls and the applause reverberates around the theatre you think to yourself, “Why aren’t people standing and applauding? Who will stand up?” Finally, a brave soul stands joined moments later by another and then the flood sweeps through the audience as everyone stands and applauds. What made the difference? One person who had the confidence to stand up. In life, we will all have opportunities to be that one person. To be the one who steps forward and sets the course. In Ezra’s time, he needed to stand up and lead the people back to God. Lots of people were desperate for help. Keen for change. But one person needed to step forward and commit to making the change. “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” (Ezra 10:4). And so Ezra steps forward and leads the people back to God. We will all have opportunities in life to stand up and be an example – whether in our own homes, at work, or in society at large. When your moment comes, step forward, take courage and know that God will be with you. For God’s purpose will prevail. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/ezr10v4
