The writing is on the wall

King Belshazzar was hosting a banquet using the gold and silver goblets from the temple. Amid the feasting, a hand wrote on the wall – “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN”. Only Daniel, a prophet of God, could interpret the message. Because of his behaviour, God was bringing King Belshazzar’s reign to an end and giving His kingdom to other nations. Why was God so angry with him? The answer is found in Daniel 5:23; “You have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honour the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.” How often is this our behaviour? God asks us to love and honour him, but we praise and worship gods of career, money, sport, entertainment and leisure more than the living God. Gods that cannot see, hear or understand. Give God your best before the writing is on the wall. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Dan5v23, http://bit.ly/Dan5v25-28 (Nicky B)
