Most people hate interruptions—whether it’s someone interrupting a conversation or something disrupting our plans. Interruptions happen on personal, national, and global scales. A phone call interrupts a meal, a power failure interrupts your evening, or a pandemic interrupts your life. We all experienced this when COVID brought the world to a halt. We live as though interruptions won’t come and often ignore warnings, suffering the consequences when they do. Jesus warns us about the greatest interruption of all—one most will sadly ignore. “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes” (Matthew 24:37-39). Jesus is coming back.
