“I have the right to do what I want.” This is a common sentiment amongst many in our modern world. Our rights are important, and sometimes we need to exercise them. However, our desire to assert our rights is not a “modern world” thing. It was spoken about thousands of years ago in the Bible. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive” (1 Corinthians 10:23). This insight is important. While I have rights, I also don’t exist alone. We live in communities and, as such, also have to think about others. It’s this mindset that Jesus came to show us. Sometimes, my rights and what I want may not be in the best interest of others. God asks us to think less of ME and more of WE. A mindset that gives up what is for my good for the good of others. “No one should seek their own good, but the good of others” (1 Corinthians 10:24). Today, rather than doing what is good for yourself, how about turning your ME upside down and doing what is good for WE. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/1Co10v23-24
