Justice

Justice

We often say, “That’s not fair,” or “I didn’t deserve that,” viewing the world through a lens of justice shaped by legal systems. In school, I learned about two types of justice: Retributive justice, which punishes wrongdoing, and Restorative justice, which seeks reconciliation and healing. The Bible tells us that God is a God of justice: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face” (Psalm 89:14). Because God is holy and just, He must address sin and injustice, as they are incompatible with His nature. So where does that leave us? In a world filled with injustice, we are all guilty of sin. How, then, can we be reconciled to a just and holy God? This is where Jesus’ sacrifice gives us hope. Through His death, He bore the punishment we deserved (retributive justice), and through His resurrection, He restored our relationship with God (restorative justice). Our debts are paid, our lives redeemed—let us live in the freedom and gratitude of that incredible gift! Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Psa89v14 (Jeremy G)
