Knowing God

Knowing God

Do you know John? Do you know Elon? Do you know Beyoncé? I suppose the answer depends on what we mean by “know”. Is this “know” or “know of”? So, what is your answer to this all-important question – Do you know God? In John 17:3, Jesus said it is “life eternal” to know God. So, it is essential that we understand what it means to “know God”. In the book of Jeremiah, God was speaking to Jeremiah about King Josiah, who had been one of the few good kings to rule. He says this about him – “He was just and right in all his dealings. That is why God blessed him. He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn’t that what it means to know me?” says the LORD.” (Jeremiah 22:15-17). God tells us that knowing him means giving justice and help to the poor and needy (Mercy) and being just and right in all our dealings (Truth). These are the two core aspects of God’s character – mercy and truth (Exodus 34:6, Psalm 85:10). Today, look at your life and consider if you are showing mercy and truth. Then, ask yourself – Do I know of God, or do I know God? Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Jer22v15-17, https://bit.ly/joh17v3, https://bit.ly/exo34v6, http://bit.ly/Psa85v10
