Mar 12v41-44 – The sound of generosity

What does generosity sound like? It sounds like butterfly wings gently closing. It sounds like a feather landing on grass. It sounds like light dancing on water. It sounds like…nothing. One day Jesus pointed out the sound of generosity. “Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44). While the rich threw their heavy silver coins into the receptacle causing a clang of recognition and a surge of pride, the widow’s small coins made no sound at all. Yet she gave all she had, silently. Her silent generosity was unheard by the world, but heard by Jesus and recorded for eternity. Seek opportunities to do good where the sound of your kindness is so silent, it is heard by God. “Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:4). 🌱 Open Bible – https://bit.ly/mar12v41-44, https://bit.ly/mat6v4
