Mat 13:16 – Yanny or Laurel

“I like blue best; what do you think?” “No! North is definitely better!” Huh? How often in a discussion does it seem like the other person has not heard us at all? You might recall the “Yanny vs Laurel” debate, where the same word is heard totally differently by people (Do you hear “yanny” or “laurel”? Listen here – Hearing is a passive bodily process that does not involve the use of the brain. Listening, however, is an active mental process that involves the use of your brain. Jesus’ words can only be listened to if we have a receptive heart. “That’s why I tell stories,” Jesus said, “to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight. In their present state they can stare till doomsday and not see it, listen till they’re blue in the face and not get it.” (Matthew 13:13 MSG). Jesus is speaking life-changing words to you today, but whether you just hear them or truly listen to them is up to you. The difference is not simply “laurel” or “yanny” but life or death. Ask God to give you his God-blessed eyes and ears, and what you see and what you hear will change forever. “But you have God-blessed eyes—eyes that see! And God-blessed ears—ears that hear!” (Matthew 13:16). Open Bible –
